Entering New Time

It’s a gorgeous sunny day here in Vermont and I’m packing to leave and excited about the shift into the new year. Busy doing all the dumb things it takes to pack and go and busy in my mind thinking about the days to come and the things I want to do.

I’ll be in Colorado and Montana, soaking up the western sky, the big mountains, the crisp air. After a packed holiday season I’m ready to be away for a while.

I’m thinking about flowers, I’m thinking about art. I’m thinking about the luminous wonder of the spirit realm. I’m thinking about death and how we remove death from the natural rhythms of our daily life. I hope to teach a lot more this year and I hope that we can all understand that death is not a problem to solve but rather a mystery to embrace.

I want us all to learn to measure a good life not by length but by depth. How about that for a resolution? These are the dragons of our lives and I want to be the one to slay them.

Welcome to 2025. Welcome to the new website. Welcome as I begin my movement away from my work as a pastor, from the public, structured life of a person hoping to elicit spiritual curiosity toward a more embodied experience of confronting the big questions, the things we refuse to talk about, the real Real.

I will begin the year by publishing The Little Book of Living and Dying and hosting an evening of discussion of what I have learned as a medium and companion to the dying.

No more wincing; we’re going to stare straight into the places we fear the most.

I hope to see you soon!
